78) Monotony of War--waiting for letters, dreaming of future---Feb. 18th, 1945

My darling,

Just a short note before I go to sleep. I am already in bed so it will probably be harder to read than usual. I was just going to go to sleep when all of a sudden I got the urge to write to you. So here goes.

Honey I haven’t received much 1st class mail lately. No letters from you since I wrote you last. I am being patient about the whole thing. (I keep telling myself). Should get 2 or 4 letters from you tomorrow. I don’t worry when nobody else gets any either. We have been getting a few packages now & then. I managed to get a new pen, through the PX. A “lifetime” Scheaffer. Really like it a lot.

We are having things pretty easy right now. I hope they let us have a rest soon. Maybe we will get a nice cozy spot in or around Manila. But that would be too good to be true.

There are so many things I want to tell you but just can’t. Maybe we will be closer together in a few more months and I’ll ask you then.

We are really going to have to start making some post war plans just for the two of us. Things will really be swell if you & I can do all the things I’ve planned out in my mind for us. Keep up the cooking!

Do you have any good suggestions as to how we should go about making definate plans? Please tell them to me!

Well darling that’s about all for tonite.

I love you so very much.
Goodnite & sweet dreams.

Yours,
Jack
